About

WEEE are on a MISSION

Our mission is to foster sustainable economic growth and success for women and minority-owned businesses and communities through research-based initiatives and programming in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and well-being.

For years, WEEE has championed entrepreneurship development and financial literacy education driving tangible economic growth and sustainability among women and minority-owned businesses and communities.  Now with the launch of WEEE Care, our social enterprise, dedicated to well-being initiatives, we’re expanding our impact to uplift underserved communities.  Through this three-pronged approach, we’re reinforcing our relentless commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and financial literacy among women and minorities with the understanding that the economic resiliency of individuals, families, and communities hinges upon their health.

Overview
The impact of economic development can only be achieved when there are small businesses and jobs in local communities with a structured and clear path for the support of strategic business success. According to the Small Business Administration, small companies:

  • Small businesses have accounted for 2 of every 3 jobs created in the last 25 years
  • Account for 64% of new jobs created in the United States
  • Generate the majority of jobs in the United States, employing 61.7 million Americans

The primary focus of Women Empowered for Entrepreneurial Excellence is supporting the aspirations and talents of women and minority entrepreneurs toward the launch, economic growth, and sustainability of their business ventures to success and wealth generation. The multiplier effect that happens when business revenues catalyze more jobs and workforce growth while supporting the financial stability of families, contributes meaningful impact to the economic stability of neighborhoods and communities.

WEEE has a virtual business incubator to reinforce a collaborative business culture and develop entrepreneurial skills among women and minorities. The intention of the organization is to encourage the collective harnessing of entrepreneurial vigor and increase the possibilities of success of small businesses. We create environments of opportunity for peer support, shared learning experiences, and business growth though workshops and small group cohorts. Our audience includes aspiring and existing women and minority entrepreneurs who are operating informal businesses, home based businesses, virtual businesses, free-standing ventures, struggling businesses, growing businesses, successful ventures and everything in between. We specialize in facilitating the success of aspiring and existing entrepreneurs from all walks of life, regardless of their experience or background. Our inclusive approach ensures that we provide tailored support to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit in everyone, whether you’re just starting or well into your business journey.

Women Empowered for Entrepreneurial Excellence is a Pennsylvania Nonprofit Organization and holds IRS 501(c)(3) status. All donations to our organization are tax deductible. Message from the Executive Director

Welcome to the Women Empowered for Entrepreneurial Excellence website. Over the past 10 years we have strived to remain committed to our mission as a trusted source for information and guidance for the smallest of small businesses – microenterprises. This is where the dreams of business ownership begin, and our goal is to stimulate the sustainable economic growth and prosperity of these businesses. Grounded in research and experience, we recognize that our existence is to fill a crucial gap for marginalized entrepreneurial women. These entrepreneurs represent measurable contributions to the family, community, and national economy.

However, we have all suffered from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic but with diligence we can overcome anything. The very word “pandemic” means “pertaining to all people” (pan-demos). But the economic earthquake unleashed by COVID-19 did not affect all people and businesses the same way because of access to resources. Women Empowered for Entrepreneurial Excellence has stayed the course over the past three years. We have pivoted our talents to address the needs of our community and small businesses. We are back with focused mentorship and guidance, and the sky is the limit.

Alice Williams, Executive Director
